Week 15 Roundup So Close Yet So Far

Yesterday, May 1, 2011 was my goal date for reaching my initial weight loss goal of 175 lbs. from 237 lbs. It was an aspirational goal that I though I could achieve...trust me I tried my very best.  Dont get me wrong, I am not at all disappointed that I came short in meeting this marker for myself. I am VERY proud of my achievements and I came within 17 pounds of reaching my goal! I have to say...in the last three and a half months I have totally done a 360 on my health which is an achievement on its own. I have made a lifestyle change for the better, that includes conscious eating choices and daily exercise!

Where do I go from here? Today I set up my next goal...to lose the 27 pounds to reach my ultimate goal of 165 by July 1, 2011...which equate to about 3.375lbs per week for 8 weeks. Totally doable if I work harder at making sure I am making the best choices for me without denying myself of anything. I am still going to stick to my 2500 calorie per day or less eating goal and continuing my daily workouts and maybe increasing the intensity more of those workouts.

In this next part of my journey, I also have to take into consideration that I am gaining muscle mass from my workouts which adds weight, so I am not sure how close I can come to my goal of 165 but hoping I come pretty darn close. If I can flatten the gut more and see more defined muscle in this next few months I will totally be happy with the outcome even if I dont see 165 on the scale at the end of it. I am thinking shorts and no shirt for me this summer if I can feel confident in the way my body looks!

What Are Goals?

What Ive realized in this journey from Flab to Fab is that without a goal, you dont have anything to reach for so theres no incentive to push yourself towards that finish line. I think its important to set goals for every aspect of your life because it helps you focus on what you need to achieve and the process that you have to take to get to that final goal.

As Ive stated before, for most people thats going through any life altering journey...you have to give yourself something to look forward to at the end of that tunnel, otherwise the tunnel stays dark and youll just get bored with the entire process. But if you can see results, even the most minuscule of changes, you will be motivated to keep reach and complete the goal you have set for yourself. Its like the little engine that could - just keep telling yourself, "I Think I Can I Think I Can" when it gets hard and the next thing you know you will be there.
